The goal of the volume analysis risk overlay is to run with the bulls and hide from the bear. Our belief is that great offenses are inspired by strong defensive play. This past week both capital weighted volume and dollar volume broke through support slicing through 1% threshold as well. Meanwhile, the advance decline line has been declining and under trend for months now. From a volume analysis perspective, these recent moves elevate market risks from the correction phase to the bear market phase. In the pursuit of successful investment outcomes, risk management is often the path less taken. Thus, given the current risk/reward market conditions, we advise temporarily adjusting growth objectives to that of capital preservation.
